We as a company are grateful for the opportunities we have been given thus far and the opportunities to come. So it is our privilege to be able to give back to our community in any way we can. We, the IRT community, become more unified by tackling problems within our local area together. In 2018 we were fortunate to get involved with various organizations like the Florida Baptist Children’s Home, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Victory Ridge Academy, and Truckers Against Trafficking, to name a few.
The Florida Baptist Children’s Home is an incredible organization. Their mission is to bring hope to hurting children, to show that the love of Jesus changes lives, to impact the life of one more child. Their first orphanage opened in 1904. They have expanded over the years and continue to provide safe, stable, Christian homes and services to children and families in need across the state and around the globe. We were privileged to provide a trick or treating experience for the children who live at the FBCH campus.
“We are honored to be helping children in tangible ways.” -FBCH
St. Joseph Catholic Church is a local church that our CEO and his family attended for years. It brought them joy to be a part of a community and church that is centered in doing good for the community. This year we were able to partner with St. Joseph Catholic Church. We collected canned goods to help put a dent in their Thanksgiving potluck. This church feeds nearly 3,000 people for Thanksgiving to ensure that the members of their community enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with their loved ones.
Victory Ridge Academy is a local school that provides children with special needs assistance to overcome daily challenges and enjoy the success in learning and living. “The mission of Victory Ridge Academy is to provide children and adolescents with the exceptional needs intensive, collaborative classroom bases educational and therapeutic interventions to promote independence, academic success, and community inclusion for all students.” They are doing a wonderful job serving the community. We became aware that students in some areas rely greatly on the food provided to them by school. When long breaks in the school year come along, the student’s access to food decreases greatly. Along with our incredible IRT staff we were able to provide all VRA students with enough food to last them through the break. Once we delivered the food, the staff of Victory Ridge worked tirelessly to put together bags for each student to take home for the long break. They are doing incredible things in our community and it was an honor for us to be a part of such an impactful mission.
Truckers Against Trafficking “Truckers Against Trafficking is raising up a mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in identifying and reporting human trafficking, in order to aid in the recovery of victims and the arrest of their perpetrators.” This organization works with truck drivers to educate them on the vast number of victims that are affected by human trafficking and what truck drivers can do to change the lives of these victims. Just by knowing what to look for and who to call, a driver can save a life, or many. IRT has started to hand out info cards that were given to us by TAT to educate our drivers. We are sending our new drivers out equipped with the knowledge and ability to make an impact on these victims’ lives.
